Obadiah and Fear

the LORD came to Elijah: ‘‘Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.’’ (1Ki 18:1) we have to choose faith over fear every day.

Tihnak nih kal ngam loin a kan tuah.

Kal lo ahcun Pathian aa phuang ve lo

A hram a simi Pathian sinin zam tikah tihnak aa thok.

Tihnak kan hram hi Eden in aa thok I a hram a thuk tuk

Inn pawnghramh khi ral doh in doh a hau.

Eg: Home depot ah hramh thahnak si a kawl mi pa

Bermuda Grass and there’s Buffalo Grass. There’s Kentucky Bluegrass… Fescue Grass and Ryegrass.’’ And I was like, ok, look…I’ve got brown spots and I want them to be green. Should…should I go to the paint department?’’. He also doesn’t have Dandelions.

An hram a thuh tuk ruangah an ci hloh a har bang tihnak:

Two kinds of fear: punishment and FOMO (What will happen if I d or don’t)

Eliziah: Go and present … I will send rian.

Jezebel: Canaanite …. Baal …. Dew and Rian God

Theme: The true source of Dew and Rian

Obadiah: Joseph bantuk rian an khin. Lung kua pahnih ah prophet 100 a thuh hna. A tih ve ko nain Pathian cu a nung I a biakam a pelh lo ti a theih.

Yet I your servant have worshiped the LORD since my youth. 13 Haven’t you heard, my lord, what I did while Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD? I hid a hundred of the LORD’s prophets in two caves, fifty in each, and supplied them with food and water. 14 And now you tell me to go to my master and say, ‘Elijah is here.’ He will kill me!’’ (1Ki 18:12b-14)

Now understand what Obadiah is doing: he wants his past history of faith to exempt him from his present battle with fear. He’s says, ‘‘look, you’ve heard about my track record, right? I didn’t give in to fear. I chose faith. So do I really have to do that all over again?’’

Unfortunately choosing faith over fear isn’t a war we win, it’s a battle we choose to fight every day. That’s true in Obadiah’s life.

The bible says the fear of the LORD is a fountain of life…(Pro 14:27). It’s not just about avoiding punishment, it’s about finding life. The Bible

says: His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. (Luke 1:50).
