Catialtu : Jeremiah

Weeping Prophet

The Lamentations author, Jeremiah, began his public ministry when he was about 17 years old. He preached for 40 long, painful years. Furthermore, the poor guy was thrown on a dung hill, into a muddy cistern hole, ridiculed, laughed at . . . and experienced ZERO conversions from what we can tell.

  1. Pathian nih a ka hlawt
  2. Ka ral ah aa cang
  3. Ka tha a di hi ka ruahchannak a dong (17-18)

Instead, this lament reminds us of a seldom acknowledged truth: God wants us to be authentic, not sanitized. Frustration, fear, disappointment, anger, embarrassment . . . these are all real feelings. Don’t pretend to God like they don’t exist. Be real with God.

Jeremiah shows us that biblical hope doesn’t come from circumstances. It comes for circumstances. The hope is based on what you know to be true, despite the circumstances around you.

  1. ”The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease.’ 21 (Covenant)

Perhaps the most painful statement a person can ever hear is: ”I don’t love you anymore.” Those words break hearts, end relationships, and shatter dreams.

  • His compassions never fail. 22 (Emotional love in actionthat never ends)
  • Every morning new ”They [God’s acts of loyal love and compassions] are new every morning.” Jeremiah literally exclaims: ”New-things for-the-mornings!” 23

They are as certain and fresh as a morning sunrise. They bring comfort, peace, and encouragement amidst life worries and pressures.

  • 3:23b: ”Great is Your faithfulness.” 23 b

Conclusion: 24Ka ngeihmi dihlak cu Bawipa hi a si

ko, ka ti; Cucaah amah cu lungsau in ka ngan ko lai. The Lord is my portion. Ka caah a za ko.
